    It started out as an essay
for Ms. LaFontaine's class that
was supposed to be attached
to our college apps—but Tick
had the idea that Alé's and
mine should interact with his,
seeing as we were all telling
the same story.  Well, nobody
warned us that Ms. LaFontaine's
sister was an editor in New
York—and the next thing we
knew, we were all signing
contracts.

    And if they ever make a
Broadway musical out of it, I get
to play Alé.
